GET UP and GO Secrets

Hey guys!  I don't know how many of you out there are night owls like me, but if you are then you might relate not only to the challenge of getting yourself to bed at a reasonable hour, but then up early with actual MOTIVATION to be productive.  I am what you might call a night person with the dreadful desire to be a morning person.  I get these energy kicks that roll in at 2am, but I know that I feel my best when the sun is up and I have a full tank of sleep in my noggin.. and only good can come from feeling good! (thus my desire to change)

In October of last year I discovered the Accidental Creative while stocking up on podcasts for my subway hauls into Manhattan after recently moving from the west coast to Brooklyn.  I instantly fell in love and since committing myself to earlier mornings, they have become just as essential as my Flat White in the morning (a ritual I established while living down under in Melbourne). Uh, not much beats a good flat white. ;)

Anyways, it's time I spread the word and share one of my favourite episodes (of MANY) by Todd Henry of the Accidental Creative, THE POWER OF A MORNING RITUAL.  Because..

What you do first thing in the morning often sets the tone for the rest of your day.

Another thing I finally started making use of are the articles and "cheat sheets" on the website.
I guess you can never be reminded of some things too many times ;)

Here's the Cheat Sheet from this episode:

Get up at the same time each day. If possible, set your alarms in advance for each day in order to establish your plan. (I use the Gentle Wake app on my Pebble Watch, but you can use any smartphone for the same purpose.)

back on the map!!

OOh my, its been quite a long minute since my last post.  It's pretty crazy to look back at the last post and think about what life was then.  It really wasn't all that long ago, but things have deeefinitely changed and it was an interesting and exciting trip that led me to where I am now.  Due to the crazy summer of traveling through Europe and then landing in Australia, Garage Gypsy has been on a slighhht hiatus - at least in terms of production.  That's all about to change verry soon though.  In less than a week we move into our new office in Melbourne, and then the fun begins!  Things will be headed in a very new direction for SPRING SUMMER 2014.  The new collection has been strongly influenced by traveling through Europe and my temporary move to Australia!

Tons and tons of photos were taken while I was backpacking through Europe, and while it was a tough edit, here are some of my favs from some of the stops :)

my return to the blogosphere.

Holy Moly! My last post was in January?! Boy, does time fly, especially when you're having fun and working so much you don't even have time to sleep.  All in a good way though, it's true what they say you know- if you do what you love, you'll never work a day in your life.  I know thats easier said than done, as I've worked a lot of jobs (in the short nine years of hustling in the real world) and I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have sacrificed my sleep for any of them other than making jewelry, doing something creative/art related or being on set.  That being said, I thought I would get back to blogging.

I hope you've enjoyed your summer and managed to squeeze in some awesomely fun things.  Here's a recap on a portion of the summer for garage gypsy :)

step foot in a work of art.

So why should we be walking around in the same shoes as thousands of other people? I mean how much fun is it when your rocking a shoe that no one else can get their hands on?!  To see and read more about this shoe make-over or if you want your own customized shoe follow this link to the original post at ELEPHANT & A PEARL

the weekend.

Nothing makes me happier then laughing with friends, enjoying tasty delights, and productivity that combines fun with creativity.  So the last three days come close to perfect.

SATURDAY:  I spent the day making jewelry and prepping for a little sale that would take place on Sunday.  That, along with the weekly apartment cleaning kept me relatively busy.  It sounds relatively boring, but when you're in the zone and you've got good jams playing in the background, I rather enjoy it.  And the best feeling comes at the end of the day when you see all that you've accomplished!

Look of the day.
Classic summer casual. I've been insanely drawn to the classic black and white stripe lately.  It's a very classic French style, but lately I'm a bit obsessed.  I don't mean to be, but I just can't help what I'm drawn to and I refuse to fight it.  I just found this shirt last week and I love it, it just so happens to the fifth b&w striped item of clothing to enter my wardrobe.  This may not be too bizarre for some, but I like variety in my closet, so too much of the same thing is a big red ex for me.  Oh well, the style is different and I'm still loving it, so its all good.

I took a late lunch break and met up at one of my favorite lunch spots, The Food+Lab with a friend.
I decided this isn't my favorite sandwich, but it was still pretty amazing.  Fried and breaded chicken in a sandwich is something I very rarely would ever indulge in now that I'm like a semi-health freak, but the lady working there swore it was the best sandwich (which I disagree), but of course I had to try it..
Then it was home and back to work..
I was sure to make quite a few of the "viewefinder" Ring that seems to be the hot commodity these days.

SUNDAY: I vended at Space15Twenty from 10 till 4pm where I met some awesome people and got to hang out with friends that were able to stop by and support the garage gypsy..
After all day in the sun, a little tuckered out I decided to have some quite time reading.  I grabbed a yummy salad concoction of my own from Whole Foods and then dropped by Barnes & Noble.  There I spent two hours lightly reading through a couple business books and perusing the French and British fashion magazines.

And then I spent a little time drooling over the Jeffery Campbell shoes at Nordstom.  I'm really digging the Lita shoe, but I'm not sure if I'm willing to give in to the hype.  Buuuut, they are pretty fun in my personal opinion and uber comfy, sooo I might need to make an exception.

MONDAY:  Look of the day.
I rocked the black fedora yet again.  I only toss it on when I don't feel like dealing with my insane mane. Red satin shorts, beige cotton top, leather fringe necklace and my ethnic sandals.

After hitting the gym for a good hour and a half, I cleaned up and decided to head to Starbucks, visit my friend Moni and do some work on my computa.
My nail art from Sunday :)

Some of my fav Jeff Campbell shoes at the moment..
